Spirituality Statement
Spirituality is delighting in all things and feeling connected to something special which may be bigger than you; it may be God, the world around you or your own heart. It's wondering about big questions and discovering how it makes you and others feel.
Spirituality
Spirituality is a deeply personal experience that can vary widely from one individual to another, and it often evolves throughout a person’s life. It is not the same as belonging to a particular religion or holding a specific faith; someone can be spiritual without following any formal belief system.
At Kirkbampton CE Primary School, we explain spirituality using age-appropriate language. When speaking with our children, we talk about developing a sense of awe and wonder—including curiosity, fascination, and enjoyment as they learn about themselves, other people, and the world around them. This includes caring for nature and all living things, as well as exploring what it means to have a faith. Through imagination, creativity, and thoughtful reflection on their experiences, we encourage children to make sense of the world and their place within it.
Windows:
Providing pupils with opportunities to see the world in new ways and to learn about life in all its fullness. This includes encountering things that inspire awe and wonder, as well as experiences that challenge their thinking.
Mirrors:
Offering pupils moments to reflect on their experiences, to pause and consider life’s big questions, and to explore possible answers. This involves learning from life by examining their own insights and perspectives, alongside those of others.
Doors:
Enabling pupils to respond creatively, expressing and developing their thoughts and convictions. This is about learning to live out their beliefs and values by putting them into action.
