Remembrance 2018

Our school council have been to the war memorial at St Peter’s Church, Kirkbampton to lay a wreath on behalf of the school. We have also taken art work up from the school which is on display in St Peter’s Church.

Key Stage children have also been very busy writing letters to each other, as part of their Literacy work. After writing the letters and addressing the envelopes, they then had a lovely walk up to the post box in Kirkbampton to post them. We were very glad to hear that they all received them!

Key Stage 1 visited the Lake District Coast Aquarium as part of their Science and Geography work. Here is a snippet from their day.

Earlier this year we made some salt dough figures to contribute to the Feeding the 5000 arts project. Here is the project which was displayed in Carlisle Cathedral – can you spot yours?!

Our pupils in Y3/4 are learning the Soprano Saxophone  Рit was wonderful to see them all having a go! Happy practising!

Y5/6 First Aid

The British Red Cross came to school to teach our Y5/6 pupils basic life saving skills.

Guide Dogs Day
We had two special visitors in school to talk about guide dogs and how they help the blind. Mr Holding and Laura held a special assembly, which we followed up with a non-uniform day and activity afternoon to raise money to help towards training guide dogs.

Carlisle United vs Exeter City
Some of the junior children enjoyed a visit to Brunton Park to watch Carlisle United play Exeter City. Unfortunately they lost the game but a great afternoon was had by all!

Felt Workshop
Julie came in to school for two days to allow all of the children to create their own felt picture. They had a fantastic time and the pictures looked beautiful.

Drama Workshop
The whole school enjoyed a drama workshop with Becky from Helen O’Grady drama school. They all had a fantastic time acting out various scenarios.

School Displays
Some displays from around school this half term: PEACE is the Christian value that we are focusing on this half term. Each year group has been researching a famous PEACE representative. Children in Need Day
On Friday 17th November Kirkbampton pupils and staff wore spots to raise lots. Year 6 also organised their own activity-cake icing. We all had great fun and a tasty afternoon treat. Thanks Pusdy!

Felt Picture Bunting
The felt pictures which the children made earlier in the term have been stitched together in a bunting (thank you Mrs Workman!) and are now on display in the hall for everyone to see. It looks beautiful.
